Sony Xperia Z6 Release Date, Specs, Features: New Leak Reveals 4-Inch Minis, 6.4-Inch Phablets & More
There's still quite some time until the newest Sony Xperia Z6 collection hits the shelves, but that hasn't stopped the community from buzzing about the handsets included in the flagship model. The most recent leak on the hotly-anticipated Sony Xperia Z6 revealed a great range of devices of varying sizes.
According to a report from Phone Arena, the new line was spotted on AnTuTu's page on Chinese website Weibo. The leak confirmed the existence of five new smartphones under the Xperia Z6 line, offering differing screen sizes to tap all kinds of users.
Among the handsets in the lineup are the Sony Xperia Z6 featuring a 5.2-inch display, the Sony Xperia Z6 Mini with a smaller-than-average 4-inch screen, the Sony Xperia Z6 Compact with a slightly bigger 4.6-inch screen, the Sony Xperia Z6 Plus sporting an expansive 5.8-inch display and the Sony Xperia Z6 Ultra going phablet with the 6.4-inch glass.
With the roster's impressive variety in size, Sony's able to create something for each kind of mobile user. The Z line is often the company's high-end collection and although the team hasn't confirmed much about the upcoming model, the AnTuTu Weibo page revealed more details including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 powering four out of the five handsets disclosed on the website. Only the Sony Xperia Z6 Mini will differ and feature the Snapdragon 620 SoC instead.
The Sony group is all set with these five devices headlining their smartphone game. In another report from Phone Arena, it was revealed that the electronics giant has already handed out the invites for their CES 2016 press conference on Jan. 5, which will include a smartphone among the different devices to be discussed.
With the buzz surrounding the Xperia Z6 line, many are hoping it will be announced during the event. However, there has been no word from the company executives and the report speculated it could be too early to introduce the next Z collection. The Xperia Z5 trio was just released in the fourth quarter of 2015.
It is possible Sony could unveil the Xperia Z5 Ultra instead, reportedly shipping in March 2016. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, the massive phablet is set to be one of the more impressive ones in the market equipped with 4GB of RAM, a sharp 23-megapixel rear camera and a huge battery. It features a 6.44-inch screen with 2160 x 3840 resolution.
