'Extant' TV Show Release Date, Plot, and Cast News: Halle Berry To Star In Steven Spielberg's New TV Series
Halle Berry is set to star in a new role and it is truly out of this world.
The Academy award-winning actress will star in the new sci-fi thriller TV show, Extant. The show is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and also stars Pierce Gagnon, Camryn Manheim, and former ER actor Goran Visnjic.
In the show, Berry plays the role of Molly Watts, an astronaut who has just returned back to Earth after a year-long solo mission. According to the TV show's trailer, "she does not come back alone."
Goran Visnjic plays the role of Berry's husband on the show, John Watts. The premise of the show centers on John's attempt to create a child for his wife Molly who is infertile. His final solution is to create a robo-child that will be the first prototype of a future line of human-like robots known as Humanichs.
Extant's synopsis coincides with its tagline, "Life Always Finds A Way."
Last year, CBS network picked up the Extant television series and announced that it had placed a 13-episode straight-to-series order, bypassing the pilot stage.
Production for the series began in Los Angeles on Feb. 10 for a scheduled premiere on July 2, 2014.
CBS released an official press release confirming production of the show on Aug. 7, 2013. Here's what they had to say:
"EXTANT is a very original concept with layers of humanity, mystery and surprise that reveal itself throughout the script," said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. "Our partnership with Amblin for UNDER THE DOME showed that viewers respond to high-quality event programming in the summer. We look forward to building on that with EXTANT and offering CBS audiences another high-concept, unique event for summer television."
