Marvel has found a new writer for the third installment of the "Thor" franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Stephany Folsom has been brought on to work on the script for the hotly anticipated "Thor: Ragnarok."

Folsom does not have many credits to her name but she wrote the 2013 Black List script "1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon." However that script remainsl unproduced. Folsom's other famous credit is for "The Princess of North Sudan" as well as the TV series "Ds2dio 360."

The past few weeks have been busy for Marvel as the company released the first trailer to "Captain America: Civil War," a film that will open next year's summer. That film is slated to showcase the entire band of superheroes duking it out over a major legal issue that would have the ubermensch hand over control to government officials.

Marvel has also been busy on "Dr. Strange," which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, and as a result very little news has been announced about "Thor." Folsom's hiring is the first news about the project since early October, when Taika Waititicame on board to direct the film.

After much criticism over the lack of female writers and directors in Marvel, Folsom is the third female to come aboard a Marvel film. Previously Nicole Perlman wrote the critically acclaimed "Guardians of the Galaxy" and now she is writing "Captain Marvel." Meg LeFauve was the second female to be contracted by Marvel as she is teaming up with Perlman for the second "Guardians of the Galaxy" film. The company has been making a move to open up positions for women with Ava DuVernay offered to direct "Black Panther." She eventually turned it down, noting creative differences, according to Essence.

The new film is expected to star Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. Tom Hiddleston is also expected to return as Loki wile Jaimie Alexander will return as Lady Sif.

The first "Thor" film was released in 2011 and made $181 million. It also premiered to rave reviews and shortly after the sequel "Thor: The Dark World" was released. The sequel went on to gross $206 million but did not score as many good reviews.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to open on Nov. 3, 2017, a year before "Avengers: Infinity War-Part 1."
