There's a new custom ROM released for Samsung Galaxy S6. Owners of the 2015 Samsung flagship device can use Epsilon custom firmware to experience the latest Android Lollipop version.

Samsung Galaxy S6 can be updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop using the official Lollipop firmware, as noted on GSM Arena. However, more adventurous Android users can opt for a custom ROM, such as the newly released Epsilon ROM, to be able to experience the newest Lollipop goodies for their Samsung Galaxy S6 units.

To determine the compatibility with Epsilon ROM, Galaxy S6 users need to check first the model number of their device. Go to Menu, tap the Settings option on the phone and lastly, look for Model Number.

Located just below the Model Number should be SM-G920F. According to Team Android's post, it is the variant suitable for the Epsilon ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

After checking the model number, battery level is next. Experts suggest that a phone should have at least 80 percent battery before conducting any custom ROM installation.

To establish a smooth Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update procedure for Samsung Galaxy S6, there are other tools and requirements to satisfy aside from checking the model number and battery level.

One of the most important is a reliable backup of all the data and settings stored on the smartphone. ClockWorkMod and TeamWin Recovery Project are two of the highly-recommended recovery tools and it will also be used to flash the custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F units.

For the complete and step-by-step instructions on how to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via Epsilon ROM on Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F, check out Team Android's post cited above. The post also warned smartphone users that installing any custom ROM will automatically void warranties of the device.

Upon successfully installing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via Epsilon ROM, users will notice the AdBlock service integrated into the ROM to get rid of unwanted ads popping up. Epsilon custom firmware is "pre-rooted, zipaligned and deodexed," Team Android described.

Moreover, the ROM brings in some battery tweaks to enhance the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy S6. Users can expect a stable, smooth and fast performance from the ROM, according to Team Android.
