Rap star 2 Chainz has pledged to pay the rent of a disabled veteran and single mother for the next year.

CNN reports Deirdre Plater had been struggling to keep things afloat for her Palmetto, Georgia family, and with the holidays just around the corner, things didn't seem to be getting any brighter.

That's when the hip-hop star got word of her predicament and decided he wanted to do everything he could to change it.

First, the native of nearby College Park paid Plater a visit. Even on that trip, he came bearing gifts, furnishing the home with all new furniture.

"Last week was my son's birthday and his mentor sister brought us something to eat for Thanksgiving while dropping off money for some groceries and she noticed that we didn't have any furniture in the house," Plater said. "I guess that sparked my son's mentor Mark Barnes to do something special for us and when he got the call from 2 Chainz about helping a family it all fell into place."

Since then, the rapper has posted on Instagram about the importance of giving back, vividly recalling that he too was once destitute.

"I remember when we didn't have hot water and I didn't want my friends to know, so I told them it was something wrong with that bathroom and they couldn't use my mommas, i remember using the oven to heat the house , I would stand in the kitchen for hours to stay warm," he posted. "I remember waiting until the water co. Close at 5, so we could use a tool and turn the water back on until 6 am, I remember going to sleep hungry, i remember a long ass extension cord coming from the neighbors house to mine to borrow they're lights."

Nowadays, the rapper heads up the T.R.U. Foundation, a charitable organization, and used the proceeds for the "Dabbing Santa" sweaters he is currently selling online to help pay for the furniture and rent.
