One of the most talked about plots of Marvel's "Ant-Man" movie was if Hank Pym's wife, Janet van Dyne is still alive. She was seen in a flashback and is not confirmed if she will be part of the sequel "Ant-Man and the Wasp," but lead actress Evangeline Lilly wants Michelle Pfeiffer to play Janet.

In a recent appearance at Comic-Con Experience in Brazil, Lilly reveals that she is hoping that Pfeiffer will be cast as her mother. "I do not know anything about Ant-Man and Wasp. Marvel didn't tell me anything, but wouldn't it be cool if Hope was behind her mother and if she was played by Michelle Pfeiffer," Lilly told Omelete as translated by Movie Web.

Marvel confirmed last October that "Ant-Man and the Wasp" is scheduled for release on July 6, 2018, and Paul Rudd and Lilly will reprise their roles as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne/Wasp, respectively. Michael Douglas is also set to reprise his role as Dr. Hank Pym, but it is not yet revealed if Janet is still alive.

Cinema Blend noted that in the "Ant-Man" film, Janet worked with Hank and were S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the 1980s. In their last mission, she shrunk smaller than she ever had to help immobilize a missile heading for the U.S.

Janet was unable to return to normal size and believed to have disappeared in the Quantum Realm, but Scott was able to escape it with the help of Dr. Pym's enlargement discs that led to the realization that Janet may indeed be alive.

Fans have wondered if Janet has aged or not when she was trapped inside the Quantum Realm. If Marvel decides to cast her as older, Pfeiffer is a perfect fit for the character but there is a chance that Douglas' real-life wife Catherine Zeta-Jones may play the role.

Pfeiffer has previously played a superhero character when she portrayed Catwoman in "Batman Returns" 13 years ago. Lilly revealed in an interview last July that her favorite superhero performance in a movie was Pfeiffer's Catwoman, per Movie Web.

Peyton Reed is slated to return as director for the "Ant-Man" sequel while the search is still on for a screenwriter. He said in an interview that he has started the process of developing the relationship between the characters and fighting styles, as reported by Den of Geek. The general development of the sequel has not officially started and filming won't be scheduled until next year.
