A custom Android ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been released. Users can opt to install Norma firmware to update their phablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 hit the shelves on September 2013, and it came pre-installed with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, according to GSM Arena. Currently, the official firmware update available for the phablet is Android 5.0 Lollipop.

However, those who are in for some Android adventure can try to use a custom ROM to be able to experience the latest Lollipop goodies. Team Android noted that Norma, a custom ROM firmware based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, is now available for the SM-N9005 model for Note 3.

Particularly, this specific model is the one that offers 3G and LTE connectivity. To verify the model number, simply head to Menu, choose Settings and then look for Model Number.

Before installing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy Note 3, it is also important to check the battery level. It's recommended that the phone has at least 80% battery power to ascertain that there won't be any installation interruptions that could potentially damage the device.

Prior to installing Norma, the Samsung phablet needs to be rooted and proper backup of the essential data stored on the device is made. For the backup, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners will have to use a custom recovery tool such as ClockWorkMod (CWM) and TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP).

Team Android warned the users that using any kind of unofficial firmware can likely wipe out the memory of the smartphone. Thus, experts are highly recommending the use of reliable recovery tools, which is also necessary when flashing a custom ROM such as Norma.
