The latest from the WhatsApp application, update 2.12.212, has now been released and is available for Windows phones.

According to N4BB, the latest version of WhatsApp for Windows phones includes some new features such as starred messages and Camera UI. Take note, however, that the said update 2.12.212 is not yet available on all Windows devices. Instead, it started its implementation in a small-scale pattern, which will then hopefully continue to other devices once it's stable. The latest WhatsApp update apparently doesn't have a changelog, which make it more of a minor update than a major one.

Users who have already tried the latest version of WhatsApp have noticed some of the changes in the said app. A new interface for the camera within the WhatsApp application has also been indicated while photos and video uploading has been updated.

According to NeuroGadget, despite the upgrade that WhatsApp has implemented for Windows phones, not all were impressed by its features. Voice calling, which may have been an excellent idea to reduce the cost of international calls, is only available on Android, iOS, Windows and Blackberry. Otherwise, you may still not get the full feature on your phone.

WhatsApp has been releasing several updates in the past months, and most of them deals on basic and minor fixes that will help enhance the performance of the application. Other than that, the only major additions that came with the latest WhatsApp updates include additional emoji characters, being able to reply directly from the notification window, the rich text link that allows user to see what the link is all about without actually opening it, and, lastly, voice calling that immensely cuts down the charges on international calls.

Android was the last one to receive this latest feature from WhatsApp prior to its application on the Windows phone. WhatsApp currently has over 900 million users and is one of the most used applications on the mobile platform. It is available on different platforms such as the iOS, Android, Windows, Symbian and BlackBerry. Currently, the Android version is the one receiving most of WhatsApp's updates among all the other operating systems. Facebook currently owns the app after the company bought it for $19 billion.
