'Hyrule Warriors Legends' Character 'Linkle' To Appear in 'Legend of Zelda' Games?
Nintendo reveals the possibility of Linkle to be part of future Legend of Zelda games and outside of the spin-off game Hyrule Warriors Legends. In a recent email interview with IGN, a Nintendo producer discussed the possibilities coming for Linkle.
According to Eiji Aonuma, there's a chance that Linkle will be part of yet-to-be developed Legend of Zelda titles. Asked by IGN on Linkle's effect on the entire Legend of Zelda franchise, the Nintendo producer shared, "I'm sure we will keep her in mind when thinking about future titles."
GameRant shared that Linkle, a female Link, is a playable character added for the upcoming game Hyrule Warriors. The dual crossbow-wielding character will be available in the 3DS version of the game.
Furthermore, the report shared that players can unlock Linkle and can transfer her to Wii U port of Hyrule Warriors. A previous GameRant post described that Linkle "resembles her male counterpart in many ways, with blonde hair, pointy elvish-looking ears, and a tendency to dress in green."
Hyrule Warriors' official US release date is set for March 25, 2016 on Nintendo 3DS. Learn more about Linkle by watching the YouTube video below from IGN:
Talking more about Linkle and her possible inclusion to the soon-to-be developed Legend of Zelda games, Aonuma shared, "I had a chance to give feedback on Linkle during development, but the satisfying action of using a crossbow, which we developed for the spinoff title Link's Crossbow Training, was implemented this time completely by Koei Tecmo."
"It may feel a little different from other titles in the franchise, but she doesn't feel out of place at all in the world of the Zelda games."
As explained in Nintendo Life, Linkle was originally planned as Link's sister, as proposed by Koei Tecmo.
"However, we felt this conflicted with the concept of Aryll from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, the only character we had ever had appear as Link's sister, so we decided not to include that version," Aonuma clarified.
"In Hyrule Warriors Legends, though, the proposal was to include Linkle not as Link's sister, but as a girl with heroic aspirations," the producer added, further sharing that since it's a totally fresh and unique background for the game, which could add to the game's diversity, they decided to add her in the game.
