Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas Officially Divorced
It's the end of an era: Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are officially divorced.
The Los Angeles Times reported that a Los Angeles judge finalized the actors' divorce Friday, Dec. 4, and the judgment was released Tuesday, Dec. 8. Griffith, 58, filed for divorce in June 2014 after 18 years of marriage.
Even though the duo got married in 1996, they kept everything separate from the day of their marriage up until 2004, reports TMZ.
The former couple equally divided earnings they made from films released between 2004 and 2014. This means Banderas, 55, will be sharing his "Shrek," "The Expendables 3" and "Puss in Boots" earnings with his ex-wife. The good news is the actor will get to keep all of his earnings from "The Mask of Zorro" and the "Spy Kids" movie franchise. The pair split the profits from the sale of their Los Angeles mansion and have also divvied up their blue-chip artwork.
Some may have been expecting their divorce proceedings to get nasty, but the pair have stayed true to their original proclamation to keep things civil.
"We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together," the pair said in a joint statement, according to People.
Banderas doesn't have to worry about forking over child support, as their daughter Stella is 19 years old, but supporting Griffith will leave a huge dent in his bank account. Not only will Griffith receive their house in Aspen, but the judge has granted her a whopping $65,000 a month in spousal support, according to court documents.
Banderas and Griffith met while working on the romantic comedy "Too Much" back in 1995. This was the second marriage for Banderas and fourth for Griffith, who was married to Don Johnson twice.
