The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced the nominations for the annual Golden Globes.

The Latinos nominated this year for the Golden Globes included Oscar Isaac for "Show Me a Hero," Gael Garcia Bernal for "Mozart in the Jungle," Wagner Moura for "Narcos," and Gina Rodriguez for "Jane the Virgin." "Narcos" was also nominated for Best TV Dramatic series.

The Golden Globes are important precursors as the organization has chosen a number of Oscar winners and has influenced the Oscar race. For example, in 2007, the organization gave the Best Picture award to "Atonement," which helped give the film a bigger profile and ultimately get a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards. The Globes also gave the Best Picture award to "Avatar" and made it a front-runner in the race before losing to "The Hurt Locker" at the Oscars.

However, the Globes have been criticized for being too obsessed with stars and that was seen in 2010 when the organization nominated "The Tourist" for Best Picture. That film was loathed by critics and audiences. Throughout the past few years, however, the Globes have tried to get back their legitimacy and have chosen more Indie fare. Last year the organizations surprised most when it nominated "Pride" for Best Comedic film and also nominated Julianne Moore for "Maps to the Stars." The year before that, it chose to nominate Greta Gerwig for "Frances Ha" as well as Julie Delpy for "Before Midnight." This year actors like Johnny Depp were left off while Indie films like "99 Homes" and "Ex Machina" surged into the race.

Chloe Grace Moretz, America Ferrera, Angela Bassett and Dennis Quaid presented the nominations. The Golden Globes will be held on Jan. 10.
