A new custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is now available. Users can now opt to install EMPORIA.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, at launch, was running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the specs list on GSM Arena cited. Officially, Samsung's 2015 smartphone firmware can be updated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.

However, Android users now have the option to use a customized firmware to be able to experience the latest Lollipop goodies on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. For instance, EMPORIA is one of the recently-released custom ROMs compatible for the smartphone.

According to Team Android, visually, this custom ROM is similar to Samsung's official firmware and it offers the same TouchWiz interface. It is further described as "pre-rooted, debloated and zip aligned."

Moreover, EMPORIA, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update brings in improvements to increase battery life. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge users interested to install the ROM can also experience enhancements in the smartphone's general performance with the tweaks made in the firmware.

However, the custom Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware is only suitable to a specific model of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Team Android's report said it should only be installed to SM-G925D.

To check the unit's model number, S6 Edge owners can head to Settings, go to the About Phone option and then look for Model Number. Once users are certain that they have the right model, the next thing to check is battery level.

Experts recommend at least 80 percent battery power remaining for smartphones before users update them with a custom firmware. This is to easily avoid any power disruptions during the process that could potentially brick or damage the handset device.

Moreover, it is necessary to have a backup of all the important files and settings stored on the device. ClockWorkMod and TWRP are two possible options for users looking for a custom recovery tools they can use to create the backup.

Another thing to keep in mind before installing EMPORIA firmware or any other kind of custom ROM to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is that unofficial update process automatically cancels the warranty of the device. This means that the manufacturer won't be responsible in case anything undesirable happens to the smartphone while installing a custom ROM.
