Selena Gomez fears the "hold" Justin Bieber seemingly has over her could have consequences for her relationship with Niall Horan.

The "Come Get It" singer and Horan have recently been growing closer, but Hollywood Life reports she remains petrified her history with Bieber could soon significantly complicate things.

"Selena's anxious about seeing Justin again," said a source. "She's in such a good place right now, happier than she's been in ages, but when it comes to Justin they're always a lot of intense emotions. Texting and talking on the phone is one thing, but seeing him face to face always does a number on her."

Still, word is if Bieber had agreed to commit to Gomez when they recently spent time hanging out together at the Montage Beverly Hills, the two would surely be together right now. And some speculate, even with Horan now in the picture, many of those feelings remain in play, especially with Bieber reportedly letting it be known that he wants to see her.

"In the past Justin has always had such a hold on [Selena]," said a source. "She's telling herself she's strong, but it's hard not to worry it could happen again. Right now she wants to give things with Niall a chance and she doesn't want Justin to confuse her."

Reports are The One Direction singer recently admitted to Gomez that he has had a crush on for years and considers her to be his total dream girl.

"He doesn't mind doing what Selena wants to do, or being with Selena's friends or having dinner with Selena's family," said a source. "He's just a really sweet guy. Selena has been so hung up on Justin for so long that she never really saw Niall as a viable boyfriend until now."
