Downtown Abbey Season 5 Premiere and Cast Rumors: Actors Forced To Stay Off Twitter After Questionable Tweets
Downton Abbey creator and writer Julian Fellowes isn't too happy with the way Downton Abbey cast members have been tweeting about the show.
One cast member in particular has found himself in hot water for his TMI on the popular social site. We're talking about Richard E. Grant.
Fellowes expressed his dislike towards Grant's tweeting at the launch of Grant's new fragrance, Jack Perfume.
"He's very naughty. The trouble we've had with things like Twitter," Fellowes said at the event.
"We had to explain to the cast about the dangers of tweeting as no one realized how interested everybody was in the show. You're in a bubble when you're filming," he added. "You're just tweeting these nice things and you don't realize there are millions of people worldwide trying to pick up the plot."
The tweet that landed Grant in hot water was the photo he tweeted on March 28 with the caption "On DOWNTON ABBEY duty this fine LickYourPlateCleanFriday." In the photo, Grant appeared in a black and white suit on the set of the Downton Abbey show.
The 56-year-old actor later tweeted a picture of a car on the show and wrote, "Home for the weekend James!"
Perhaps Grant's TMI tweets stemmed from his excitement of finally being added to the cast of Downton Abbey. The news that he was joining the show was announced in February and Grant has very open about his excitement in being part of the show.
"...a month ago I got an email asking if I'd do four episodes. And instead of playing someone downstairs, like I did in Gosford [Park] years ago, would I play someone upstairs? I said yes, fast," Grand said to Vulture.
Although from a viewer's perspective Grant's tweets did not give too much away, perhaps we will see what the fuss is about when the show premiers its fifth season later this year. Will you be watching?
