Bill Cosby Sex Abuse Scandal: Legendary Comedian Sues 7 Accusers for 'Malicious' Intent
Bill Cosby has filed a countersuit against seven of the women accusing him of sexual assault, alleging they set out on a "malicious" course to defame him.
TMZ reports the "Cosby Show" dad also claims his tormentors made "opportunistic, false and defamatory accusations" against him.
Those named as part of the suit are Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie.
In all, more than 50 women have recently stepped forward to allege the now 78-year-old actor drugged and sexually assaulted them over a period of more than 50 years commencing sometime in the 1960s.
Cosby has steadfastly denied all the allegations and has never been criminally charged in connection with any of accusations. In the case of the seven women named in the suit, he charges he believes he was targeted by them because of his wealth and celebrity.
Cosby adds in his filing the claims of the women have caused him great shame and much embarrassment based on their "morally repugnant" nature.
Indeed, the fallout against the famed comedian in the wake of the accusations has been steep, with many universities and institutions abruptly moving to strip him of various honorary degrees and other platitudes previously bestowed on him.
Although he has never been criminally charged, Cosby was recently required to submit to and appear for a deposition hearing in Boston where famed civil rights attorney Gloria Allred grilled him for more than seven hours on behalf of her client.
Former Playboy bunny Judy Huth alleged Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at the Playboy mansion back in the 1960s when she was just 15 years old. Allred has already hinted she hopes to be able to interrogate Cosby a second time in connection with the defamation case filed against him by Huth.
