A new Huawei Nexus smartphone might get the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. For the release date, a report from Phone Arena suggests that it is "unlikely to be unveiled before [the] second half of 2016."

The publication cited China-based analyst Pan Jiutang, which claimed that the new Huawei Nexus might be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. According to recent reports, the latest Qualcomm SoC is boasting of impressive benchmark scores.

Android Authority shares that Snapdragon 820 offers better memory bandwidth, with "more than twice the performance of the Snapdragon 810 in specific GeekBench 3 tests." Furthermore, the Adreno 530 GPU featured in Snapdragon 820 "completely dominated all the benchmarks thrown at it," the report notes.

Specifically, the Adreno 530 GPU's GFXBench tests were able to obtain scores that are 52 percent to 72 percent greater than the next-fastest Android mobile device. Accordingly, this device is the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, which is powered by Exynos 7420 processor.

For those who do not know, Huawei manufactured Nexus 6P, a 5.7-inch smartphone that was released in September 2015. It is equipped with an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 518 ppi, according to GSM Arena.

Under the hood, Huawei Nexus 6P comes pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. With a  3GB RAM, the Google smartphone comes with three different variants with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal memory.

For the shooting specs, the primary camera is equipped with a 12.3 MP lens sensor with later autofocus, dual-LED flash and features such as face detection, HDR and geo-tagging. The selfie cam, meanwhile, has 8MP lens sensor.

Going back to the rumored new Huawei Nexus smartphone, details are still scarce regarding the device. Regarding its possible release date, if Google's product launch history is to be factored in, the report from Know Your Mobile notes that it may have a July to September 2016 timeframe for the unveiling.

Moreover, it is possible that the Huawei Nexus smartphone's release date might coincide with the grand reveal for the latest Android iteration, the version 7.0 that could be dubbed as Android N.
