The midseason finale of "Arrow" ended with a compelling cliff hanger that left fans wondering if Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) is really dead.

In the action-paced episode, "Dark Waters," Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) was determined to destroy his rival Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) even more so than the Green Arrow.

The holiday-themed episode also included a lot of internal conflict as Diggle struggled to reach his brother, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) discovered that Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) has made an alliance with Damien and Felicity learned that her mother was dating Laurel's father. In addition, Damien crashed Oliver's holiday party.

Towards the end of the episode, Oliver proposed to his girlfriend Felicity and she said yes. However, shortly thereafter, she was shot it when one of Damien's men opened fire on Oliver's limo, reports CarterMatt.

A promo video for the midseason premiere next year, which is titled "Blood Debts," shows Felicity being operated on in a hospital and then Oliver visiting a grave.

According to We Got This Covered, The CW has yet to issue the full synopsis for "Blood Debts," and instead released this brief tease: "Oliver Queen seeks revenge when Arrow returns with all-new episodes, Wednesday January 20th on The CW!"

Meanwhile, executive producer Wendy Mericle opened up about the mysterious death that was teased in a flash forward scene earlier this season. The showrunner told TVLine that there would be more flash forwards "right around mid-season."

She added, "If we do decide to do that, it will reveal even more pertinent information about not who's going to be in the grave but certainly where our characters are when that [death] happens."

The mid-season premiere of "Arrow" will air on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
