‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ Releases First Trailer [Watch]
There is a new wizard in town and now "Harry Potter" fans know exactly where to look for him.
The prequel film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has officially released its first trailer and it looks quite magical to say the least.
According to Collider, the film is based off the J.K. Rowling novel of the same name. Rowling also penned the "Harry Potter" books that the films were based on and they saw immense success on the big screen with 8 adaptations altogether, the last one being split into two films.
"Fantastic Beasts" essentially expands the "Harry Potter" universe and takes place in the 1920s and shows events that took place long before he was born. Events that eventually would influence the world he was educated in at Hogwarts.
The film focuses on magizoologist Newt Scamander (Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne) who has traveled to New York City in 1926 and embarks on a new mission once he gets there.
But his mission was not exactly on the itinerary when he arrived, considering he brought a box of magical creatures with him, and now part of his collection has escaped onto the streets of the city.
His mission puts him in touch with covert magicians who are both helping and thwarting his plans to retrieve them and he must play the odds at finding them before they end up in the wrong hands.
The trailer clearly shows that the New York City and U.S. government are well aware of his presence in the city, what he brought and what he has let loose in their thriving metropolis.
This "Harry Potter" spinoff will also feature the acting talents of Katherine Waterston and Carmen Ejogo, who were also present in the newly released trailer. Also co-starring in the film will be Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell.
The film is slated for release in the States on Nov. 18, 2016. It will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX formats.
