Avalanche Studios has rolled out a new patch for "Just Cause 3" this week, touting fixes for load time issues and stability problems, among others.

Dubbed as Patch 1.02, the 132MB update is now available to download on PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version will arrive on Friday, Dec. 18.

The Sweden-based developer said on the game's website that it has been rummaging through fan feedback to identify what fixes should be prioritized. Following the game's release earlier this month, gamers were quick to vent their frustration with the long load times. This week's update looks to cure that problem, but it still remains to be seen just how improved the load times will be.

"Just Cause 3" Patch 1.02 Full Changelog

  • Significantly improved loading times
  • Optimizations to online stats
  • General stability fixes
  • Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
  • Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up (PC only)

Unskippable Cutscenes

Players can now skip cutscenes by holding down B on their gamepad, or hit Skip from the pause menu.

No Sprint Button

Avalanche game designers want to encourage players to use Rico's unique grapple to navigate around Medici far quicker than his legs would allow, as well as giving players the ability to traverse vertically.

NO CROUCH

The developer said Rico isn't meant to hide from enemies. Getting Rico up in the air is the studio's version of a cover mechanic. Rico is far more deadly in the skies than pinned behind a container on the ground.

Finding the Last Chaos Object

While there's no mini-map to help players liberate certain areas, they can always bring up their map to help find Chaos objects. When players are down to the last few remaining objects in any given base or town, an approximate location for these items will be displayed on the map.

Avalanche added that players who still experience issues with "Just Cause 3" after installing the patch should know that the studio is working hard to improve the game even further.

"Just Cause 3" released for next-gen consoles and PC on Dec. 1. Technicalities aside, the game has amassed generally rave reviews.

Dan Stapleton of IGN calls the game the perfect playground for the lead character's physics-defying brand of mayhem and destruction. The reviewer acknowledges that the game isn't immune to performance bugs, but its massive scenic world and action-packed gameplay more than compensates for some minor technical issues.
