GOP Presidential Candidates Criticize Hillary Clinton Over ISIS Comments, Donald Trump Video Claim
GOP presidential candidates have criticized Hillary Clinton over her comments regarding the fight against ISIS and the Islamic terrorist group's alleged use of a Donald Trump anti-Muslim speech in its recruitment, per Yahoo! Politics.
"We now finally are where we need to be. We have a strategy and a commitment to go after ISIS and we finally have a U.N. Security Council resolution bringing the world together to go after a political transition in Syria," Clinton said in last Saturday's Democratic debate in New Hampshire.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush quickly reacted on Clinton's comment and disagreed with the Democratic candidate's assessment on the fight against ISIS.
Carly Fiorina told FOX News Sunday that Clinton is wrong and lying, adding that the former Secretary of State will continue to lie because she can get away with it.
“Mrs. Clinton is Mrs. Happy Talk, and she just wants to happy-talk her way to the presidency. She is a personification of this administration,” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” He also said that with the Paris and San Bernardino attacks, there are still no concrete plans from the Obama administration to deal with ISIS and “lone wolf” terrorists, per ABC News.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was more subtle in his criticism of Clinton saying that it is a very difficult task to have an alliance with countries Sunni Muslim nations to fight on the ground against ISIS. However, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that if Clinton gets elected, it is just like a third term for President Obama and his foreign policies.
Clinton also claimed that an anti-Muslim video of leading Republican candidate Donald Trump is being used to recruit new ISIS members. “They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists,” Clinton said as quoted by USA Today.
Trump hit back on Clinton while he is on NBC’s Meet the Press, calling her claim “another Hillary lie.” He added that his words on Muslims entering the United States stand for his “toughness and strength.” There is no evidence found that a Trump video is being used, but some experts said there is still a possibility that it can be a catalyst for recruitment.
