The MLB free agent market is still full of big and talented names even though the winter meetings are over and the offseason is halfway finished. According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the market seems to be slowly developing because of several factors that leave Yoenis Cespedes, Chris Davis, Alex Gordon and other big-named free agents unsigned.

Only seven of the top 20 free agents of MLB Trade Rumors are still available while this time last year, only three of the top 20 are left and eight in 2013. Besides the three players mentioned above, the remaining free agents in the top 20 without a deal are Justin Upton, Ian Desmond, Mike Leake, Wei-Yin Chen, Kenta Maeda, Dexter Fowler, Daniel Murphy, Scott Kazmir, Ian Kennedy and Yovanni Gallardo.

Rosenthal noted several reasons why the free agent market is slowly developing. The first reason is the qualifying offer as teams don't want to lose a draft pick. Another reason is high-spending teams like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels are silent and will not spend more money this offseason.

Teams like the Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies are in rebuilding mode and are not attractive for expensive free agents. The last factor mentioned is the overall trade market as outfielders like Carlos Gonzalez, Andre Ethier and Brett Gardner are available while several Cleveland Indians, San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays starters are being shopped.

However, that does not mean that there is no interest in big name free agents. Let's take a look at the latest news and rumors regarding these players

Justin Upton, Yoenis Cespedes - In a report by Bruce Levine of CBS Chicago, the White Sox are looking at Upton and Cespedes while the Los Angeles Angels have ruled out a move for both outfielders.

Chris Davis - According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Orioles and Davis' agent Scott Boras continue to talk about a new contract but are still about $50 million apart.

Alex Gordon - The Kansas City Royals are reportedly "lowballing" Gordon and he is good as gone with a sizable gap between the two sides, per ESPN.

Ian Desmond - According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, several teams are interested in Desmond but want him to play in the outfield.

Mike Leake, Wei-Yin Chen, Kenta Maeda, Scott Kazmir and Yovani Gallardo - The Los Angeles Times notes that the Dodgers are looking for additional starting pitching after losing Greinke to the Arizona Diamondbacks and a failed medical on Hisashi Iwakuma.
