The Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints will face off on "Monday Night Football" in a little NFC matchup. Neither team will be making a playoff appearance this season, but it's still always fun to watch the NFL on Monday night.

Detroit Lions (4-9)

It's been a pretty disappointing season for the Lions. They began the year 0-5, and losing Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley this offseason has clearly taken its toll. The Lions defensive line just isn't what it used to be. They now rank 21st in rushing yards allowed, and they have also allowed the most rushing touchdowns in the entire league.

Speaking of rushing, the Lions have been terrible at establishing a run game. Not a single Lions player even has three rushing touchdowns this year, and it's been a major concern. Matthew Stafford isn't playing terribly, but opposing defenses are simply dropping back because they know the Lions can't run the football effectively.

The Lions have lost their last two games against the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams. At this point, the only big question among Lions fans is: Who will they select in the 2015 NFL Draft?

The Lions play the San Francisco 49ers next week.

New Orleans Saints (5-8)

Just like the Lions, the Saints haven't really found their rhythm this season either. The Saints defense has been absolutely atrocious this year, ranking near the bottom in almost every major category. The Saints defense ranks 32nd in points allowed, 31st in yards given up, and 32nd in touchdown passes allowed.

Because of the team's terrible defensive play this year, coordinator Rob Ryan was fired.

Drew Brees has been the only really big bright spot this season for the Saints. The 36-year-old veteran has 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this year, but like the Lions, the Saints don't have much of a running game. The Saints will be at home, but they have lost their last two home games against the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.

The Saints play the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.

Schedule

The Saints and Lions will play each other on Monday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The game will be played at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans. You can watch a live game stream here.

Prediction

Neither team will be playing when it matters most, but if you like high scoring games, this one might be for you. The Saints and Lions have no running game and they both lack defenses that can get stops. This is a matchup of two teams with high passing attacks. In the end, I'll say Brees has the last laugh.

Saints win, 35-31
