Looks like the vice president doesn't know much about the American Constitution.

At least, that's how it appears in the latest May issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. In the issue, scheduled to hit stands on April 24, VEEP actress, Julia Louis-Dreyfus poses nude with what appears to be the American constitution tattooed on her back. However, as you gaze down Louis-Dreyfus's bare backside, you might notice a MAJOR error.

The signature that appears at the end of the tattooed constitution is marked John Hancock, who signed the Declaration of Independence, NOT the U.S. Constitution.

Let's just hope that Louis-Dreyfus didn't end up getting that permanently inked to her body.

To pacify things, Louis-Dreyfus, who plays a fictional vice presidential character in the HBO show VEEP, took to Twitter to make comedic light of the error by tweeting, "In my defense, 'I was in a drunken stupor' #crackexcuse cc: @rollingstone."

The 53-year-old actress then poked fun at the fictional press secretary character on VEEP, Mike Clintock, by adding, "Hancock signed Dec. of Independence NOT Constitution.Yet another Mike f--up. Dummy.#veep#crackexcuse@VeepHBO@mrmattwalsh cc@rollingstone.

Despite Louis-Dreyfus's attempt at "keeping things light," critics were not at all pleased with the fact that such a well-known magazine could make such a careless and colossal mistake.

The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia tweeted, "George Washington to .@RollingStone - Thanks for the shout out but no Hancock here (picture from Signers' Hall).https://ow.ly/i/5bG1r."

Rolling Stone later defended the cover to Poytner, claiming that "...the Declaration of the Independence is on the other side but we couldn't fit in all the signatures."

Rolling Stone also added, "The Julia Louis-Dreyfus cover mirrors the farcical tone of HBO's Veep, and the signature is an Easter egg for fans of the show."

Whether the cover mishap was intentional or a mistake... we will never know. One things for sure is that the cover certainly created lots of buzz that will hopefully reflect in sales once the magazine is released. Will you be purchasing?
