At the Billboard Women in Music event, which aired on Friday on Lifetime, pop group Fifth Harmony, who were honored with the Group of the Year award, paid homage to past female groups.

According to Billboard, Fifth Harmony took the stage to perform an acoustic medley of female power anthems at the event. This included their feminist hit "Worth It," a cover of Destiny's Child "Independent Women" and Sister Sledge's "We Are Family."

Like Destiny's Child in their time, Fifth Harmony have branded themselves as symbols of girl power since appearing on "The X-Factor." The group include members Dinah Jane Hansen, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei and Camila Cabello.

The group strive to promote various aspects of feminism for young girls everywhere through their music and public images as pop stars.

Actress and pop singer Hailee Steinfeld presented the group with the Group of the Year award. In her introduction, Steinfeld reiterated the group's influence on young women.

"Great things can happen when women come together and bring their voices as one," Steinfeld said. "They have been reflecting something positive and very beautiful with their harmonic convergence. This is a group that has already established their name, their sound and their powerful connection to their fans everywhere."

During their acceptance speech, the group began by thanking God for helping them manage the struggles of the business and keeping them healthy. They then thanked their fans for loyalty and dedication.

"Thank you to our fans for continuously voting for us, supporting us, waking up at 6 a.m., waiting outside for any show that we possibly have. We love you guys so so much and yes power to the women. We love you and were so powerful together," Kordei said.

Other Latinas honored at the event included pop stars Demi Lovato, who took home the Rulebreaker award, and Selena Gomez, who was honored with the Chart Topper award.
