‘Saturday Night Live’ News: Sarah Palin Strikes Back at Tina Fey After Guest Appearance [Watch]
In a new twist in the comedy war between Sarah Plain and Tina Fey, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate turned the tables on her "Saturday Night Live" doppelganger.
According to The Washington Post, Fey returned to the "SNL" set last weekend with her "Sisters" co-star and longtime friend Amy Poehler. The two took to the stage as hosts and found the time in their busy schedules to revive some of their classic characters from the show.
But, after reviving her impression of Palin, Fey was likely not expecting retribution from one of her most famous targets. The comeback didn't come in person, though.
Palin filmed a parody video, with the former governor portraying Fey's character on "30 Rock," essentially turning the comic mocking tables on the celebrated comedienne. The video was released on Monday, following Fey's "SNL" appearance.
The clip was something straight out of the "SNL" playbook of parodies. Just as Fey did in 2008, when she impersonated Palin in the Republican presidential race alongside Sen. John McCain, Palin cashed in her chance to get revenge by mocking the comedieene's semi-doomed TV show with some quirky twists of her own.
Palin starred as "Lynn Melon," comically playing off Fey's "Liz Lemon" character. The video was similar to a mashup promo for the original show and featured Melon spitting out some of the classic one-liners and non-words that Fey made so famous in the role, like "blerg" and "nerds."
Fans even got a small dose of "30 Rock" alum Kevin Brown, who cameoed in the promo to ask Melon why she did not attend a book club meeting that featured Palin's own book "Sweet Freedom: A Devotional."
They also worked in the quirks of living in a post-PC world. Palin had a little fun with the gig, smiling when she said, "The only PC I need is right here," gently petting her laptop.
