'Captain America: Civil War' Spoilers, News: Russo Brothers Talk Spider-Man, Bucky
With "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" out in theaters, "Captain America: Civil War" is now arguably the most hotly anticipated upcoming film.
One of the most hyped up characters in the sequel is Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who has yet to be unveiled. However, directors Anthony and Joe Russo did recently shed some light on their approach to the new character.
"It was very important to us that we go younger with the character because what we love about Spider-Man is that he's still a high school student," they revealed, according to Comic Book Resources. "We also wanted to think about 'Who is Spider-Man today?' We wanted to think about who is Spider-Man today if he's living in Queens, what's the texture of his life like, what's the texture of his relationship with his aunt who lives with him. How can we make the relationship and character very contemporary?"
Another interesting character in the film is Bucky (Sebastian Stan), who is Captain America's (Chris Evans) best friend.
To this point there has been minimal information on where the relationship between these characters stands. At the end of the previous film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," the two arrived at a tenuous peace, and somehow, they seem to be on the same side by the time this film plays out.
"These are both characters that came from nothing. Captain America was basically an orphan, and Bucky's family took him in," the directors said about that relationship.
The new film is slated for release on May 6, 2016 and will bring the trilogy to an end. Considering the scale of the film, with almost all of the Avengers duking it out with one another, it is plausible that one or two of the big heroes will die in this film, before the series moves on to "Avengers: Infinity Wars."
Which character are you most excited about seeing in "Captain America: Civil War"?
