It's not the holiday season without a jaw-dropping collection of games going on sale. This year, the Steam Winter Sale promises to be greater than ever with "thousands of games and software" offered at amazing discounts.

According to an official release on the Steam website, players can get their favorite titles on sale for the next two weeks. Thousands of items can be availed at good price points during the sale period, including famous titles.

The highlighted games include "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" for $5, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" for $30, "Ark: Survival Evolved" for $18, and "Rocket League" for $14, according to a report from GameSpot. "Killing Floor 2: Return of the Patriarch," "Game of Thrones," "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" and "Besiege" are also among the games currently featured on the website.

It's a wide variety of titles across the board with games for all kinds of players offering discounts. The Steam Store shows a whopping 9,937 games on sale at the moment, including new ones that are proven best-sellers such as "Just Cause 3," "Grand Theft Auto 5" and the "Star Wars" collection.

The Steam Winter Sale will also see the launch of the first Steam Sale comic dubbed the "Gingerbread Jack In: North Pole Noir." A new page of the story will be unveiled every day of the sale.

The games included on the 2015 Steam Winter Sale will be available until Jan. 4, unless specified otherwise.

Dropping major discounts on the community's most beloved games is only one of the many exciting new features of Steam to be revealed as of late. A host of new games are available -- or soon available -- on Steam, making it a great platform to spend the holiday break.

For one, the Steam Early Access now features "Moonshot" by Pump Action Games, according to an official post by the developer on the Game Dev forums. The new space-themed game has not yet made waves, but there is potential in the title.

"Moonshot is a physics-based tank death game inspired by classics like Scorched Earth," the post revealed. "Blast bots to bits or rally your friends for [four-player] local party play in fast-paced, hilarious versus matches. Core mechanics are simple and accessible but difficult to master, and weapon upgrades keep each match fresh."

Meanwhile, the wildly successful "Tales of Symphonia" will also be making its way to the forefront with the Steam port getting launched on Feb. 2, according to a report from PC Gamer. Players have been waiting for this since the system requirements were revealed back in July, so this will likely find solid footing on the platform upon its release.
