iPhone 7 News: Model Expected by Late 2016, Apple Works on Tweaks, Upgrades
Billed as the thinnest iPhone to date, the Apple iPhone 7 is expected to be in stores by September 2016.
Tech Radar reports the new sleeker look can partly be attributed to the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack, a rumored screen with Touch ID baked in and wireless charging.
For all its charms, namely being heralded as the best handset yet and its 3D Touch technology, the iPhone 6S is widely considered to be quite similar to the iPhone 6. The device was impressive, but did not represent a major overhaul for the company's flagship line.
Expected to be priced in the same range as the iPhone 6S, the new phone is rumored to feature an all-metal design with a bezeless display. That could be a factor in the new "ruggedized" build the phone is also expected to feature, perhaps making it more water and dust resistant than ever before.
Word is Apple also plans to move to glass-on-glass screens, which could lead to greater resolution, more in line with that found in Android models.
There's a fairly decent chance that the iPhone 7 may also have more than its share of camera enhancing tweaks. Optical image stabilization is one option that immediately comes to mind.
Several media outlets have also reported the new models come equipped with a dual camera set up, rumored to be developed since the iPhone 6S, and an evolved multi-Force Touch option.
Overall, performance enhancement could abound. There are widespread rumors the new models will pack a hexa-core A10 chip, significantly upgraded from the dual-core processor in the iPhone 6S.
One drawback to the iPhone 7 is the RAM is expected to stay around the 2GB range, which Apple reached with the 6S. Hope as most consumers might, chances are that spec won't be changing for a while yet.
