The vice-chairman of the Miami-Dade Republican Party, Manny Roman announced that he opted to support to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz instead of Rubio or Bush. In his interview with Fox News Latino, Roman stated that there's an "unspoken rule" between the GOP officials within South Florida that they would only be supporting Rubio or Bush.

In his letter entitled "Hurrah for Cruz" which was reported in Washington Examiner, Manny Roman described Cruz as an "an incredibly talented, principled and unwavering voice for constitutional and limited government. That's why I'm endorsing him. Roman on the other hand described himself as a "Republican activist."

Roman stated that he will be helping Cruz in campaigning as Cruz was able to surpass the political campaigning chaos with his platforms and story.

"I had every reason to support Senator Marco Rubio instead - he is a well-liked local Republican and my colleague on the faculty at Florida International University. (He teaches politics, while I teach business, however, even in an environment where there is overwhelming indirect pressure to get behind one of the local candidates, Ted Cruz's story and platform break through all the noise."

Roman then added:

"Cruz is an incredibly talented, principled and unwavering voice for constitutional and limited government, Over the next months, I will be helping the Cruz campaigns reach more people in Miami-Dade. I will help lead the grassroots-focused campaign that is now taking off in Iowa and other key states."

Roman's letter was then retweeted by Cruz which sparked another issue. Fox News Latino stated that what he did was actually a violation of the Republican Party of Florida's "by-laws." Rubio's chief legislative aide candidate, Miami-Dade GOP chairman Nelson Diaz criticized Roman for his endorsement.

"It is a violation of party rules and the loyalty oath we all signed, to use our titles and position to endorse one Republican over another" as well as "a violation of the trust that party members placed in us. The nominee should win by election of the grassroots, in a bottom-up manner, not a top-down push by party leadership. This is why I have stayed publicly neutral in this primary season. It is my hope that other party leaders don't try to put their thumbs on the scales as well."
