'Dancing With the Stars' Judge Bruno Tonioli Lands 'Top Secret' Film Role
Bruno Tonioli is a staple on television as a long-time judge on "Dancing with the Stars", and even U.K.'s "Strictly Come Dancing," but the beloved critic could be making the move to the big screen soon. The dance personality has landed a significant role on a Hollywood film and he's not holding back the excitement for the much-awaited opportunity.
In an interview with Mirror, the 60-year-old television star shared more about his film aspirations and the part he's about to play.
"Next year I have a part in a film," Tonioli said. "It's my first one."
These days, many projects in development are kept heavily under wraps to avoid spoiling the experience for the general public. Tonioli seems to have already learned the ropes as he kept mum about the details of his upcoming movie project.
He added, "It's very exciting, I've already filmed it but I can't say anymore about it. It's top secret."
While Tonioli made a name for himself in the small screen as a presenter and judge, the DWTS star said he originally wanted to pursue acting as a career. He ended up going another route, but new opportunities are giving him another shot at his goals.
"I was an actor before I was a TV presenter and I really loved doing it," he admitted. "But because of my accent, my options were restricted when I got to the U.K."
Like many other aspiring actors, Tonioli is angling for a spot in the biggest, most expansive film franchise in the world. If he gets the chance to do so, he'd be soaring in a galaxy far, far away.
"My dream role is to be in 'Star Wars'," Tonioli said. "I don't care what I'd be, I'd be Chewbacca's handbag, darling. If the right offer comes I will pursue it."
For now, Tonioli will have to settle for the glitz and glamour of the "Dancing with the Stars" stage, which has plenty of dazzle to keep him busy. If he does come back next season, he'll be welcoming back another fellow staple of the show Len Goodman.
DWTS professional dancer Mark Ballas expressed his joy at Goodman's return in an interview with IBTimes recently.
"Len brings something to the show that I felt was a little bit absent this season -- his grumpiness and his attention to tradition and you know, we need that," Ballas said. "He's such a staple of the show, he was definitely missed."
