Guns N' Roses Reuniting at Coachella 2016, Axl and Slash Back at the Helm
Guns N' Roses, one of the world's most popular hard rock bands is set to have a reunion on stage. Original members Axl Rose and Slash are reuniting for the first time in 20 years through the upcoming Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Spring of 2016.
The article on Billboard also stated that there are plans for the band to hold a concert tour and perform as many as 25 shows. Most probably, if the negotiations for the stadium tour run smoothly, the band will be on stage later in the year.
Then again, the producers must invest a lot of money since Guns N' Roses has been said to be requesting as much as $3 million, for every show. With that talent fee, no wonder ticket prices are predicted to be somewhere from $250 to $275.
At any rate, the members for the reunion performance in the festival is still not clear but Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan are all actively participating in the talks. It was mentioned that Matt Sorum might be joining in to replace the original drummer Steve Adler.
The founding members of Guns N' Roses are Axl, Slash, McKaga, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler. Their last performance together was in July 17, 1993 at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires.
The latest performance of the group, with Rose and the new members, was in 2014. The tour raked in about $15.2 million.
Nevertheless, in the two decades that the original members have not work together, there were many chances of reunion but it did not happen. Some of the members also got into conflicts and there were bad controversies as well. These things might have played a big part in the failed plans of doing music again as a whole group, according to Daily Mail UK.
Guns N' Roses debuted in 1985 by releasing the album entitled "Appetite for Destruction." The album contains the worldwide hit single "Sweet Child o' Mine."
In the history of music industry in the U.S., the album is the first debut record that was able to sell out 18 million copies. In addition, the tracks placed No. 1 for five weeks on Billboard's Hot 200. Lastly, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, Guns N' Roses sold over 44.5 million albums in America alone.
Following their huge success, the band release more chart-topping hits including "Use Your Illusion" I and II and "G N' R Lies."
Meanwhile, aside from Guns N' Roses another band that will have its reunion through the Coachella 2016 is LCD Soundsystem. The rest of the performers for the much-awaited event have yet to be announced by the organizers.
