James Bond 007 Movies: Penélope Cruz Rep Denies Bond Girl Role in New 'Bond 24' Film
Recently, it has been claimed that Penélope Cruz may take the title of oldest Bond girl in the highly anticipated addition James Bond film series, Bond 24.
It seems that the soon to be 40-year-old actress cannot escape the insistent reports that she will play the British Secret Service agent 007's love interest. A press release was recently circulated by the French office of Sony Pictures, which listed Cruz as one of the cast members in the upcoming movie.
According to French film magazine Premiere, the Spanish actress has been mentioned in a release date update from the film company.
"Sony has updated its release schedule," the publication claimed. "Big surprise on page 2: Named alongside Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris is Penélope Cruz in the cast of Bond 24 by Sam Mendes."
Cruz was once reportedly considered to star in the multi-million dollar movie, however the authorities were quick to vehemently deny the claims, arguing that it was simply industry gossip.
"The producers have tried to get Penélope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments," a source close to the production said last summer. "The discussions have been going on for some time, and they are working out the contracts details now."
There is speculation that the latest announcement may be just a rumor. Sony has yet to respond.
"Sorry, but it can only be a mistake," the actress' representative said. " We've heard some rumors from the press, but there's absolutely no confirmation from us."
