Chris Brown Investigated by Las Vegas Police on Assault Allegations
Chris Brown is angrily denying a woman's claim he punched her in the face at a private party held at his Las Vegas suite on Saturday.
Yahoo! reports Las Vegas police are now investigating the allegation lodged by Liziane Gutierrez, a Brazilian model, who alleges the incident took place at the Palms Hotel at the height of a dispute about a cell phone.
"The victim was alleged to have been battered by Brown, who at the same time took her cell phone," authorities outlined in a press release. "A verbal altercation took place as the victim was escorted out of the room by private security and into the hallway."
Following the incident, the model was escorted off hotel property, but she later returned to formally file a report. Detectives could not reach Brown in his suite and later learned he had left the hotel before officers arrived at the scene.
Reps for Brown later told reporters Gutierrez had a "total meltdown" in the hotel hallway, with people waiting to get into the soiree witnessing her "throwing her purse to the ground and claiming that she 'could buy everyone in the hotel.'"
Representatives also disputed her claim that she had a cell phone taken from her inside the party.
"Making false accusations seems to be a pattern of behavior for Ms. Gutierrez," a source added, perhaps in reference to her recent run in with another singer, Jason Derulo, TMZ reports. "Whatever her motives, her statements are unequivocally untrue."
Gutierrez's dispute with Derulo stemmed from her reported bitterness over being left off his tour bus following a night of partying. She later alleged the girls who left with the singer were pressured to do things they didn't want to.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Brown previously pleaded guilty to a felony assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. The "Diamonds" singer dated Brown again in 2013 but called it quits several months later.
