LG is working on bendable and rollable screens with its display business. This week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), LG Display is showing off an 18-inch screen that rolls up like a newspaper.

This year at CES, LG is ready to show off the rollable display they first released last year as a proof of concept, The Verge reports. Last year, they kept the prototype away from the public, but now they are proudly introducing it to the public.

The rollable concept for screens is not exactly a brand new thing, since Sony, Samsung, Sharp and other companies have experimented with it already, but LG looks like they are moving forward with the idea for televisions, smartphones and tablets.

LG believes rollable displays would be a convenient way for consumers to transport their devices in their pockets or to fit in specific interior spaces, like a car.

In the Auto Zone section at CES, LG will show off a 25-inch curved screen installed inside of a car.

LG has already shown they want their devices to curve in the past. The LG G Flex 2 smartphone has a curved arch on the middle of the device.

LG is committed to continuing this trend of curved, bendable or foldable displays with their OLED technology.

The 18-inch rollable prototype will be a working unit that CES visitors will be able to interact with and see in action.

Not only does LG have plans for a rollable display that works just like a newspaper, they also have plans for a display that would be nearly as thin. LG will show off a paper-thin OLED TV at CES this week. The TV is also capable of showing images on both sides, Engadget reports.
