CES 2016: Fitbit Shows Off Blaze, First Stylish Fitness Tracker
Fitbit is the go-to brand for fitness trackers, but most of their devices are plain and boring looking. Fitbit finally introduced a stylish looking fitness tracker, the Fitbit Blaze at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The Fitbit Blaze looks more like a smartwatch than a basic-looking rubber fitness band, CNet reports. The Fitbit Blaze might be able to attract more buyers for its stylish looks.
The Blaze might look like a smartwatch, but it is still a fitness tracker. It will offer users notifications of incoming texts and calls, but it will not offer additional apps and features like the Apple Watch.
The Blaze has some improved fitness tracking features, like a better and more frequent heart rate tracking feature. Fitbit will also offer workout coaching and some pre-installed workouts.
The stylish Fitbit Blaze will still track steps, calories and more. The Blaze will also remind users to get up and move around every hour by buzzing. It won't stop buzzing until 250 steps are taken.
The nice colorful touchscreen on the Blaze is a brand new thing for Fitbit. The screen is similar to what is offered in the Pebble Time smartwatch.
Fitbit is selling the Blaze for $199, less than the non-color Fitbit Surge model. Fitbit hopes that buyers will customize the Blaze with one of the many straps and bands that are offered.
The Blaze is easily customizable because the color screen pops right out of the band and can be inserted into a new band of the user's choice. There are metal, leather and other varieties of straps available.
Users will also be able to customize the clockface to their liking with the color touchscreen display.
The Fitbit Blaze is now available for pre-order from Fitbit's website. It is only available in stainless steel for starters, with other strap options coming later.
