Live from New York it'll be UFC star Ronda Rousey.

According to ESPN, the MMA superstar has signed on to host the Jan. 23 episode of "Saturday Night Live," which also stars Selena Gomez as musical guest.

The 28-year-old Rousey will become the latest in a long list of superstar athletes to have hosted the show that includes the likes of Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, Peyton Manning and Charles Barkley on more than one occasion.

Rousey will be the first mixed martial artist to serve as host. Previously, the fight game has been represented by boxing's heavyweight champion George Foreman and middleweight champion Marvin Hagler.

The veteran Rousey has barely skipped a beat since suffering her first professional defeat at the hands of Holly Holm back in mid-November. The UFC has not yet announced her next fight, though it is widely assumed it will be a rematch against Holm.

A former U.S. Olympian in judo, in 2012, Rousey (12-1) became the first female athlete to sign a UFC contract. UFC president Dana White has incessantly stated that Rousey alone changed his mind on women fighting.

Fighting out of Southern California, Rousey recorded six consecutive 135-pound title defenses before suffering her first loss.

The "SNL" gig is the latest on Rousey's growing list of mainstream appearances, which also include the Hollywood films "Expendables 3," "Furious 7" and "Entourage."

In March, she also made an appearance at WWE's "WrestleMania 31" and, a month before her battle with Holm, became the first female athlete to guest host ESPN's SportsCenter.

Rousey has been romantically linked to fellow MMA fighter Travis Browne.

"I don't talk about my personal life much," she recently said. "That's why it's called 'personal life.' It's true that Travis and I are in a relationship. I've really enjoyed the time we have spent together and getting to know one another. And that's all I'm going to say about it."
