Since last year's Comic-Con announcement in San Diego that Zack Snyder's Superman reboot Man of Steel would include Batman, comic book fanboys have been clamoring for the first look of the "World's Finest" duo together in costume.

The flames only grew hotter once Warner Bros. announced that Gal Gadot would be playing Wonder Woman, making the upcoming the film, the first to feature DC Comics' "Holy Trinity" on the same stage.

Although filming has commenced on the still tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman flick, the Internet universe will still need to wait a few more months, at least, until the studio decides to unveil the Batman and Wonder Woman's suits as well as the minor changes to Superman's suit, Snyder told Forbes in an exclusive interview.

"Unfortunately, I don't even know the timeline ... Because the movie takes place so far from now, it's hard to know exactly," Snyder admitted. "That all gets tied to marketing and strategies for the movie. It's not just a free-for-all, which I'd love it to be.

Snyder continued to say that he has a massive photo of one of the new suits hanging up in his office and that he'd love to post the photo online but knows that he can't.

"You do sort of sense the weight of the pop culture iconography jumping out of its skin when you're standing there looking at the two of them -- (Batman and Superman) -- and Wonder Woman," Snyder said. "It's crazy. But it's fun. I mean I have the first photo."

He said it's important for fans to get a real shot of suits and not just any leaked versions from the film's set that are likely to pop up over the web.

"I do value the sort of excitement of the way the film is (revealed) ... the pieces that are released and sort of trickle out to everybody," Snyder said, adding, "and those reveals are exciting milestones for us."

Snyder spoke a length about a number of his previous films including his director's cut of Sucker Punch, the complexity of Watchmen and Greek mythology on 300, as well as his adoration for the graphic novels Watchmen and Batman: Year One.

Snyder also discussed how Batman came to be in the Man of Steel sequel. He said he did it in a subversive way by planting the seeds of the thought into his writers' heads first.

"I gotta be honest, it definitely was a thing that... after Man of Steel finished and we started talking about what would be in the next movie, I started subtly mentioning that it would be cool if he faced Batman. In the first meeting, it was like, 'Maybe Batman?' Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne's house or something. Like in a cryptic way, that's the first time we see him. ... The problem is, once you say it out loud, then it's kind of hard to go back, right? Once you say, 'What about Batman?' then you realize, 'Okay, that's a cool idea. What else?' I mean, what do you say after that?"

This year, Warner Bros. and DC Comics are celebrating the 75th anniversary of Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics back in May 1939. Superman celebrated its 75th milestone last year and Wonder Woman will turn 75 next year.

The May 6, 2016 release of Snyder's film will feature the three of the most iconic superhero characters in the world as it gathers Gadot, Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman and Ben Affleck taking up Batman's mantle.
