Xbox One System Update Goes Live, Addresses 'Behind-the-Scenes' Bugs
Microsoft has rolled out a new Xbox One system update that fixes "behind-the-scenes" bugs. However, Xbox Live program director Larry Hyrb said the update doesn't include any new features.
It's still unclear what those bugs are or what functionality they are related to. Microsoft, meanwhile, doesn't plan to explain. Hyrb added that the company would not release any patch notes for the new system update.
The Xbox One received a major software overhaul in November 2015 with the arrival of the New Xbox One Experience update. Among other things, it upgraded the console's user interface and introduced backwards-compatibility support for Xbox 360 games. It also improved overall graphics performance, as per Tech Radar.
Xbox program manager Mike Ybarra told Dual Shockers that the next big Xbox One update will arrive in February, but there is still no word on what that update may include.
Ybarra also said on The Inner Circle podcast that Microsoft plans to add a background music feature on the Xbox One. However, it won't be coming anytime soon since the company wants to take its time in developing the new functionality.
"Background music is on that list," said the executive. "Windows 10 will help us as we think about what's the right way to deliver that. And we want to do it in a way that surprises fans."
With regards to upcoming games, Xbox marketing executive Mike Nichols recently shared on Xbox Wire an outline of exclusive titles arriving in 2016.
Barring any unexpected changes, here's the complete list of Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusives scheduled to release this year.

- Crackdown 3
- ReCore
- Sea of Thieves

Xbox strategy and marketing chief Yusuf Mehdi told Windows Blog that the company is experiencing solid engagement rates on the Xbox App for desktop computers. He noted that roughly 6.6 million hours of Xbox One games have been streamed on Windows 10 PCs.
For its part, Sony announced this week that it has sold 5.7 million PlayStation 4 units during the holiday season, bringing total sales to almost 36 million worldwide.
"We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PlayStation 4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season," Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House said in a press release share with GameSpot. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences."
