Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts believes defending champions Golden State Warriors will set a new regular-season record this year.

The Warriors hold an impressive 35-2 record and are on pace to surpass the 72-10 record set by the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls during the 1995-96 NBA season. Based on the way the Warriors are playing this season, Stotts is convinced that Golden State will break the record.

"Obviously, they're on pace to have the best record ever and I think they'll get it," Stotts told Oregon Live. "They know how to play, they know their formula for success and they execute it very well."

According to San Jose Mercury News, the 1995-96 Bulls had a 34-3 record after 37 games and went 41-3 before absorbing their fourth defeat of the season. The Jordan-led squad also had a perfect 14-0 record in January 1996.

Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who is averaging 29.5 points to go along with 6.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, knows that most fans and analysts are monitoring their record, but he insisted that they are not feeling any pressure at this point of the season.

Curry said that their main goal is to remain healthy for the rest of the season. But if they still have a chance to surpass the 72-10 regular-season record, the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player said that they will definitely play with sense of urgency to set a new milestone.

"We want to be healthy and we want to be playing well, and if we have an opportunity at the end of the season to go get it, we should go get it, because that's a huge record most people thought could never be broken," Curry said. "So we'll talk about that when we get closer. But for now, let's stay in the moment and play free, play our game and have fun doing it."

The Warriors, who started the season with a 24-0 record before losing to the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 13, will collide with the Miami Heat on Monday at Oracle Arena. Heat superstar Chris Bosh, whose team holds a 22-15 record in the Eastern Conference, is expecting a tough showdown against the defending champs.

"It's spectacular; they're playing amazing basketball," Bosh told Miami Herald. "Eight guys are playing very well. A lot of their guys have come back improved, including their best player."
