It's been almost 50 years since President John F. Kennedy met his fate in Dallas, Texas, and to this day his assassination is still shrouded in mystery and intrigue. One thing is for certain though: Michelle Trachtenberg looks stunning in her new role as Marina Oswald in the upcoming biopic "Killing Kennedy."

"I am so excited for the challenge to portray Marina Oswald, and to do my first role speaking only in Russian," Trachtenberg said. "I'm the only actor playing someone who is still alive, so I want to stay as true to her as possible. This is a story about JFK's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, and his wife Marina. And it is fascinating."

Trachtenberg, 27, was not always the star of such heavy roles. She made a living early on in her career on television shows such as "Gossip Girl" and movies like "Eurotrip." With her newest role, Trachtenberg will get the opportunity to really show her acting chops, and perhaps prove that she deserves to be one of Hollywood's next leading ladies.

She's certainly in good company. The movie, which will be released on the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination this November on the National Geographic station, features several other talented actors as well.

"We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists whom have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material," Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels, said in a statement.

To this day, Marina Oswald, who is now 71, has continued to maintain her husband's innocence despite numerous investigations by the government that have found the contrary. There are also plenty of conspiracy theories that support her claims of her husband's innocence, though it is not expected that the new movie will focus on these views.

"With 'Killing Kennedy,' timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience," said Owens.
