‘Destiny’ Potentially Headed to Mercury? New Details on February Update Coming Out
"Destiny" is venturing to unknown territory next and while developer Bungie has kept mum on the details, several clues indicate the series may be heading towards Mercury for the first time.
According to a report from Eurogamer, Bungie sent a message to the players over the last weekend and dropped a new emblem as a present to kick off the brand new year. The emblem, called the Rising Light, came with a message from the developers saying, "A time to celebrate the past year, and look forward to the next."
The message was also entitled "Days of the Dawning", which seems to reference the upcoming event called "The Dawning" that was found hidden in the server last December. No additional details on The Dawning has been spilled by the team, but the latest emblem that dropped could be a pretty important clue in itself as Eurogamer pointed out, "it depicts the spires of Mercury's Vex architecture rising up against a backdrop of the Sun."
The location makes sense as the planet was originally slated to appear in the original game and was simply scrapped. Mercury inhabitant Osiris was also significantly featured, and subsequently removed upon the retooling of the plot.
His presence has been present and gaining ground though, with his disciple appearing for the Trials of Osiris event in the House of Wolves DLC. There are also several references to him in teh Grimoire lore cards, indicating his importance and possible reappearance.
A user in Reddit, who has announced several spoilers that turned out to be true, has also revealed the importance of the planet Mercury and the character Osiris in the "Destiny" sequel. According to the Reddit user, the sequel is expected to be entitled "The Shattered Suns" centering on Osiris and counting Mercury as a major area.
For now, all the fanbase can do is wait for word from Bungie. According to a report from Express, it might not take long to get new information on the upcoming events. The company is planning to release an update in February and the team is set to reveal details ahead of its release.
"The Bungie Weekly Update will return on 1/21," Bungie wrote on their official Twitter account. "Not a major reveal, but a preview of our February Update. More to come..."
According to a report from Forbes, one major feature that the community is calling for is the ability to re-customize the characters' appearance. What would you want to see in the next update?
