Nintendo has remained silent regarding the release dates of "Pokémon Z" and the augmented-reality mobile game "Pokémon Go." The lack of further information has prompted countless of speculations online as to when the games will hit the market. The latest rumors suggest a February launch or a release in May 2016.

Movie Pilot pointed out that "Pokémon Go," which is currently being developed by Niantic Inc., is still in its beta phase and could be released sometime this year.

Prior gossips claim that the smartphone app will release next month to mark the 20th anniversary of "Pokémon Red and Green." It makes logical sense that the grandest entry in the franchise would be released to commemorate the landmark event.

That said, the early 2016 launch date seems like a very short amount of time between announcement and release for such an ambitious game. February is just one month away. Surely, fans would have heard more details by now.

Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Google have invested $30 million on Niantic Inc. to continue development on "Pokémon Go."

"Niantic has shown the great potential of mixing geo-location technology, dynamic storytelling and innovative game design, and we're excited to continue supporting the team on their journey," said Google executive Don Harrison, as per Business Wire.

Niantic's John Hanke told Venture Beat that the game is heavily inspired from the MMO environment. He strongly believes the company's latest project could be more popular than the MMO games that have come before it.

"I think we can be bigger than World of Warcraft," Hanke said. "There are more mobile devices than gaming-configured PCs out there."

As for "Pokémon Z," it seems likely that the game will be announced in the first half of 2016, more specifically in May. MoviePilot stated that Nintendo usually releases a new "Pokémon" title approximately five months after it was announced.

"Pokemon X and Y" was first revealed on Jan. 8, 2013. It became available nine months later on Oct. 12. "Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire" was unveiled on May 17, 2014 and was released five months later on Nov. 14.

"Pokemon Z" could feature more than one legendary Zygarde at launch. Last month's issue of CoroCoro magazine, via Movie News Guide, teased a legendary Zygarde with a blue-colored core.

This report corroborated with earlier claims from Japanese variety show Oha Suta which stated that there would be two legendary Zygarde Cores in "Pokemon Z."

The December issue of CoroCoro magazine also revealed Zygarde's five different forms: cell, core, 10 percent, 50 percent, and the complete 100 percent form.
