The 16GB version of the Nexus 5X is now available for $349 while the 32GB model is down to $399. Their launch prices are $379 and $429 respectively, Android Police reported.
Google commissioned LG to manufacture the Nexus 5X as the successor to the Nexus 5 from 2013. The 2015 smartphone isn't exactly a high-end flagship, but it does provide attractive features and boots Android Marshmallow straight out the box.
The Nexus 5X rocks a 5.2-inch screen with a 1080x1920 resolution display. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 processor with six cores clocked at 1.8GHz, as per GSM Arena.
In the memory department, there's 2GB of RAM and 16GB of non-expandable storage. As far as the cameras are concerned, the handset sports a 12.3-megapixel back camera and a five-megapixel front-facing unit for selfies.
The device is 147 millimeters long, 73 millimeters wide and eight millimeters wide. It weighs 136 grams while its lights are kept on by a non-removable 2,700 mah battery.
The Nexus 5X is a single SIM smartphone that also supports a Nano-SIM. Its connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and 4G. It also features Band 40 connectivity used by some LTE networks in India. Sensors on the handset include Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Gyroscope and Accelerometer.
Matt Swider of Tech Radar said that the Nexus 5X is a budget-friendly mid-range smartphone with fast and accurate fingerprint scanning technology. Outside of its lackluster storage capacity, the handset is a fitting addition to the Nexus family.
Meanwhile, its bigger and more powerful launch partner, the Huawei Nexus 6P, is still offered starting at $500. Those who want a larger Nexus device for less money might want to check out the Motorola Nexus 6 from 2014. The six-inch smartphone can now be purchased for $250 on Amazon.
Google and Huawei received overwhelming flak shortly after the release of the Nexus 6P. Users complained about the device spontaneously shattering by itself.
The latest issue plaguing the Nexus 6P is its poor microphone quality. Some owners reported that their talk buddies can't hear them properly. The problem happens during VoIP calls as well as during normal voice calls. The issue became so rampant that people on Reddit, Google Forums and Xda-Developers have reported the same problem.
