Gloria Trevi NYC 2014: Mexican Designer Gustavo Matta Reveals Trevi's Exclusive Flashy Clothing For Tour
Gloria Trevi wore some flashy outfits on her tour and the costume designer just revealed some details about the looks.
Trevi's tour started on Feb. 14 in Dallas, and Gustavo Matta, who is a well-known Mexican designer used by Thalia, Belinda and Ninel Conde, explained that these outfits were created exclusively for her concerts in the United States, according to TV Notas.
All of the dresses are designed around a movie theme, as the tour is influenced by movies.
Matta and Trevi went to New York to find all the fabrics and accessories, which took about three full days.
"There are about 800 pieces of clothing in the show," he said "Trevi wanted her musicians and dancers to wear the same fabrics and crystals as her. Every outfit that Gloria uses goes from $2,000 to $5,000. It's a way of thanking her fans for continuing to support and believe in her."
Matta added that it was difficult working with her because of her image.
She was very well known for having crazy, unbrushed hair and looking very playful, so he was tasked with giving her a more mature look. She now wears her blonde hair in a less extreme fashion, and even goes for a sexier style in terms of clothing. He was successful in creating the right look for Trevi. On the tour, she's worn leotards as well as a blue gown that calls back to Cinderella. The gown is covered in Swarovski crystals, and she accessorizes the look with elbow-length gloves.
By now, he perfectly knows what Trevi's preferred aesthetic is because he has been working with her for some time.
"Only for the shows there have been more than 2,000 [pieces designed]," he said. "And that's not considering the other outfits created for family events, TV shows, catwalks and magazines."
