La La Anthony to Produce Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong'o on Broadway
La La Anthony is set to produce Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o on Broadway.
According to Deadline, New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony's better half has signed on as part of the producing team for the much anticipated drama "Eclipsed," which will mark Nyong'o's Broadway debut.
Anthony and company decided to move forward on the project after the show played to rave reviews, packed houses and critical acclaim at the much smaller Public Theater earlier this season.
The plot centers on the violent chaos that grips much of Liberia as a civil war plays out. "Eclipsed" is slated to commence previews on Feb. 23 at the Shubert Organization's John Golden Theatre, before officially opening on March 6, with a limited run through June 19.
The versatile Anthony also recently talked style with Vogue, telling the magazine her style has now evolved to the point that she sports whatever she feels.
"Sometimes that may be super-glam for the games, or sometimes it may be totally relaxed with some cool boots and a T-shirt and jeans," she said. "And I think that's what's great about going to a game: You can be pretty versatile and it'll still work."
The 36-year-old former "Think Like A Man" and "You Got Served" star also revealed her good luck charm and game day jewelry largely consists of necklaces bearing the initials of both her husband and young son.
"It's not one particular thing, but I definitely wear jewelry to a game," she added. "I have necklaces with Melo's initial, my son's initial, and Melo's number-the number 7-and I wear those because I love them. Jennifer Fisher (famed jewelry designer) actually made them for me, so I wear them often."
Anthony has also starred in such productions as "Two Can Play That Game" and "Baggage Claim." Currently, she stars in Spike Lee's much discussed and debated film "Chi-Raq."
