Chef Lala: How She Deliciously Creates a Change for a Healthier and Better Life
Mexican foods are naturally known to be high in carbs, fats and calories. These delicacies might be like heaven sent for its creativity and flavor but these are still not good enough to make anyone healthier. So in order for Latinos to stay fit, most of them would sacrifice and deprive themselves of these delicious and mouth-watering treats.
With that in mind, Laura Diaz, also known as Chef LaLa, created a "healthy revolution of Latin home cooking." According to Chef Nourish, Chef Lala is "making waves in food, nutrition, health and lifestyle." She was determined to create a healthier change in the world's history by using the ingredients she has in her kitchen.
This Los Angeles-based chef was inspired with this outlook because of her family's history of diabetes. As stated by Mex Grocer, Chef LaLa realized the importance of teaching people how to make healthier food choices earlier in life. That's why aside from her culinary career she also became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association. She also shared her ideas in creating happier and healthier life by writing cookbooks.
"I grew up in our family restaurants, so authenticity is important to me. And health is equally important," says Chef LaLa.
One thing that Chef LaLa realized is how people don't have any idea on how to enjoy their favorite food while managing their health. She also added that what these people should focus is not the disease itself but the solution to the problem, she told Diabetic Living.
"You can't hand someone a list of vegetables and expect them to change the way they eat," Chef LaLa said. She also added that if the person who is managing her diet loves to eat pasta or bread more than veggies, the better solution is to show them when, how and how much of these tasty food they should take.
Chef LaLa's goals in life are inspired by three passions in her life: family, health and cooking. She uses her skills, experience, training and passion to show people that it is still possible to be happy and healthy while satifying the cravings of their taste buds.
Although she has true passion and talent for cooking, Chef LaLa's dream used to be not inclined with the kitchen world. She was first been in love to music and dancing. But a car accident made her end her promising career that she later on began to take the different step to the culinary field.
