Free agent pitcher Tim Lincecum is currently recovering from season-ending hip surgery last September is currently scheduled to have a showcase for MLB teams in February. According to his agent, Rick Thurman, at least 20 teams have made an inquiry about Lincecum and requested his medical results.

"He's throwing every day and says he's doing great. He's got no instability in his hip, and he's enthusiastic about his progress. There was never anything wrong with his arm," Thurman told SF Gate.

The 31-year-old pitcher has been rehabbing his hip in Arizona with Brad Schoenthaler and his Sports Rehan Consulting. The company was recommended by the Steadman Clinic in Colorado where Lincecum had his hip surgery back on Sept. 3, 2015.

"Tim's doing great. He looks really strong. His hip pain and compensation patterns have cleared up. Everything's coming back a lot quicker than we expected," Schoenthaler said.

Lincecum has spent his entire nine-year career with the San Francisco Giants, helping the team win three World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. He also won two straight NL Cy Young Awards in 2008 and 2009 but has posted a 39-42 record with a 4.68 ERA since 2012, per Baseball Reference.

He still remains as a beloved sports figure in the Bay Area and the Giants are still in touch with the right-handed pitcher. Even though the Giants have signed Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija, the team is still interested in signing Lincecum as a reliever.

"Timmy has been such a big part of our fabric and success. It's important we do our due diligence. Of course we're going to keep in touch with Tim Lincecum," Giants general manager Bobby Evans said.

However, as mentioned by his agent earlier, many teams are interested in Lincecum's services with Ryan Hatch of NJ Advance Media Group suggesting him as a possible target for the New York Yankees. He added that the Yankees will be sending several scouts during the February showcase.

The Yankees roster is already full, but they could always offer Lincecum a minor league deal with a bonus clause by making the team. According to MLB.com, the New York coach staff is planning to start the season with a six-man rotation.

Starting pitchers in the Yankees' current roster include Luis Cessa, Nathan Eovaldi, Bryan Mitchell, Ivan Nova, Michael Pineda, C.C. Sabathia, Luis Severino and Masahiro Tanaka. The coaching staff is wary that the team will need to have six healthy starters due to the injuries suffered by their starters last season.
