Pokemon's 'Detective Pikachu' Gets a Release Date, New Teaser
Nintendo 3DS is about to receive a new game from the Pokemon series. According to Forbes, "Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo" from The Pokemon Company has recently released a teaser just in time for the franchise's 20th- anniversary celebration.
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, the new "Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo" game will be available on Japan's Nintendo eShop starting Feb 3. Players who wish to purchase the game on or before Feb. 29 can enjoy a discounted price of 1,200 yen from its original announced price of 1,500 yen.
Polygon reveals that Pikachu will have a human sidekick named Tim instead of the other way around.
What's more surprising is that Pikachu is expected to be more talkative this time. While there's no telling how the game will present itself, Polygon said that during its initial revelation in 2013, the blue Pikachu was presented to be the antagonist.
The Pokemon Company did not reveal whether the game will make it overseas, but given how the company is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its franchise, it's only fitting that they make it internationally.
The anniversary special will also deliver some good stuff for Pokemon fans as the company will re-release some original Game Boy games for 3DS and a year-long celebration of downloadable legendary Pokemon.
On Feb. 7, however, The Pokemon Company will release their uncut Superbowl commercial, which you can also watch online now, The Verge reports. Aside from the Superbowl commercial, The Pokemon Company will also release an augmented reality mobile game, a 3DS bundle and, of course, the "Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo."
"Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo" has no confirmation whether it will eventually get an English version, but its ability to talk all had something to do with being a detective. If Pikachu previously can only say "pika," this time, the Pokemon has more to say as investigation surrounds and interrogation will play a great role in the game.
The trailer suggests how Pikachu roams through the dark of night with all his detective talent and equipment at hand. Pikachu's silhouette is seen with his human sidekick walking the streets at night while trying to solve crimes.
Are you looking forward to seeing the latest from the Pokemon series?
