Deposed UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has put his foot down and has made it clear that he doesn’t intend to face anyone other than Conor McGregor.

The long-time Brazilian champion had been quiet since losing to McGregor back in December at UFC 194, something that ended in just 13 seconds.

It turns out that his silence was because he was waiting on the UFC to tell him when his rematch would be per ESPN. Based on current events, that may take a while. Better yet, it may all depend on what happens moving forward.

As everyone knows by now, McGregor will be facing current champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 for the UFC lightweight crown at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas via Yahoo Sports.

McGregor continues to be the featherweight champion, an exception that White made since he claims that if there is anyone who can make it happen (become two-time UFC division champion), it would be ‘The Notorious’.

McGregor has his accomplishments to back all that up despite his trash talk drawing much attention from fellow fighters and fans alike. However, against a tough and seasoned veteran like dos Anjos, it will be interesting if he can pull off another stunner at UFC 196.

As far as Aldo is concerned, the former champion seems to have been shunned a bit, with Frankie Edgar said to be the one next in line for McGregor’s featherweight title.

Apparently, this was what Aldo and the UFC agreed upon. Through Instagram, Aldo batted for the UFC to “keep its word” and give him his rematch against McGregor.

“I was quiet for awhile because I was waiting for my rematch based on how the fight went down," Aldo wrote on his IG account. "In fact, I was already training for it, but apparently I was wrong. So I wanted to make something clear to the UFC: For everything I have done, everything I have accepted and mostly how the fight ended, I will not accept any other fight other than a title shot.”

He adds, "My only exception would be fighting [McGregor], at any time, anywhere. He is afraid and knows that I'm gonna win."

The UFC has yet to address the claim of Aldo, which in a way makes sense. Being the previous champion, it seems only logical for him to get another chance on the title he recently lost.

The final verdict on that will fall on the hands of Dana White, who has been criticized for focusing more on revenue than proper protocol on championship matches.
