The race for induction into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame is on among 24 nominated songwriters and composers.

After Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame announced the nominees, including Colombian superstars Shakira and Juanes and Mexico's Marco Antonio Solis, voting officially kicked off late last month on this year's six inductee spots.

The organization opened voting on Jan. 28 and the race runs through midnight March 15. Fans are being encouraged to vote for their favorite artists at www.latinsonghall.com.

Inductees will be announced during the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Conference in April, while the formal induction ceremony is slated for Oct. 13, during the La Musa Awards at the Filmore Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Theater.

During a recent press conference to announce the nominees, legends such as Spanish singer-songwriter and actress Beatriz Luengo, three-time Grammy winner Robert Blades and Columbian singer-composer Ali Castro all turned out to learn who made this year's cut.

Along with Juanes, Shakira and Solis, the full list of nominees includes performing songwriters Alejandro Lerner, Caetano Veloso, Chucho Valdes, Joaquin Sabina, Jose Mara Cano, Los Temerarios, Ruben Blades, Draco Rosa and Vico C.

Among non-performing songwriters, the nominees include Claudia Brant, Chico Novarro, Erasmo Carlos, Kike Santander, Jorge Luis Peloto, Alejandro Jaen, Jose Enrique Sarabia, Carlos Lara, Miguel Luna, Cheo Zorrilla, Luis Fernando Ochoa and K.C. Porter.

The outspoken Juanes also recently took to the streets in the U.S. alongside fellow singer John Legend to protest the growing number of immigration detention centers across the country.

Rolling Stone reported the two performed in protest outside the walls of the Eloy Detention Center in Eloy, Arizona, where an estimated 1,500 undocumented immigrants are currently detained and awaiting deportation.

The performance was a joint effort between the artists and activist organization Puente, which advocates for the rights of undocumented immigrants and their families.
